These photos include the great blue heron that posed for us. I was using a Canon SX40HS, which has a zoom lens. I particularly like the details on the feathers.

I'm so glad to see your heron images. I like the horizontal that is not as close as the portraits for the beautiful shape of bird and reflection. I hope to see others' heron shots too. These record a really special photo op and do it justice.
