Ice

It was brutally cold this morning and I went to Lock 8--which is a place that forces you to focus on the small things as the big things are not really as organized as some of the other locks. So, while the snow was mostly gone, there was lots of ice--not to mention footprints.

Ginormous Bundt Cake

I only got this far Sunday, but Saturday enjoyed an almost-Maine minute in suburbia, snowshoeing in our wonderful blizzard.

Snow!

A little difficult to get the exposures right, but here are a couple of images from Rock Creek park on Sunday.

Here is an additional image that I took in Rock Creek. I wanted to capture the repeating curves of the branches and the bridge.

Leslie and all,

I had shown these photos at the last class but for you, I am uploading a few. These rocks and water make me feel at home , feel like near Nikko in Japan.

Difficult Before and After

Images made two days apart.

I've taken it as a given that in the woods trees are part of the view. But seeing Terri Wiefenbach's show Woods makes me a little more interested in the push/pull between an often tangled foreground and the "scene" lurking as backdrop. It's been interesting to consider this show and Blake Gopnik's highly favorable review in light of my own sense of the woods, which constitute a lot of my subject matter. I hope everyone can see "Woods" and "Oil" - they make quite a complementary pairing for many reasons.
