This was a wintry day in Great Falls, with light snow starting to fall when we left. It seems Great Falls is beautiful in every season. We're lucky to have it as our 'neighbor'.

Continuing to roam woodlands and parks

I am fascinated by how the scenery is changing weekly and each outing I see new images. The colors were bright on Monday at Huntley Meadows but definitely wintry Friday at Great Falls MD. I included a sample of those I like for different reasons. Leslie

The first two are from Huntley Meadows and the rest from Great Falls.

I would have liked a clear shot of the the tree that while brown, stood out from the sunlight.

Below, I followed Barbara's suggestion and cropped out the sky for a more wintry, barren look.

This class was a good one! Lots of serious interest in growing as a photographer throughout the sessions made it so. Good job, all!

I said I would post my selection of images. You'll find nothing better here than images seen in class! I will say that, your impressions to the contrary, when I am shooting with a class, attention to my pictures is more or less limited, given bandwidth tuned to class, though it doesn't appear that way. Whoops, 16 pix...

All I can say at this point is...Get out!

Great class today. Sorry I had to run off.

Anglers got off slow for me in terms of seeing photo opportunities. However it was nice to tag along with the group along the road and later the C&O towpath. ...to see that moon come out.

I planned to used almost exclusively the Sigma f2.8 105mm macro prime lens and I am glad I did. On a couple of places I switched to a Sigma f2.8 18-50 macro zoom. I also shot almost exclusively at ISO 100, which is the sweet spot for my camera. All in RAW. Processing was Sigma PhotoPro where I created the JPEG you see. 

As Barbara said at the start, sometimes you find yourself out looking for photos and they just are not presenting themselves. That was my time along the gold road trail as I slowly warmed to the task.

I also wanted to concentrate on establishing a definite focus point and use appropriately the depth-of-field. Early on, you will see where I focused on the foreground (e.g. leaves) or the background (e.g. small group on trail) through the twigs and leaves.

The most exciting time was after the sun left us on the C&O towpath in shadow.
