Blue Heron photos

These photos are from our afternoon trip to Great Falls MD on April 26.  I really enjoyed watching the herons.  The river level was about 4.2 feet on the Little Falls gauge that day.  The river is certainly energetic, but nothing like what we saw on May 10.

I like the way the warm late afternoon light is reflected in the river.  The heron seems to like it, too.

I tried to capture the energy of the river as a backdrop.  I also love the beauty of the rocks on which the heron is standing.

Another heron arrives.

The guest brought dinner.

Perhaps they're looking for another course for dinner or just enjoying the scenery.
